Upper hand could be characterized in different manners however the old style meaning of upper hand expresses that it is a situation or a condition which puts an organization in better business position when contrasted with its opponents. Thus it is very normal from the definition that every single business would need to be in this sort of circumstance. However, it is critical to realize that upper hand for an organization doesnt just mean to increase a superior situation in the market yet in addition to comprehend what the purchasers need so as to maintain the bit of leeway unblemished (Beske et al., 2014). The Sydney Food and refreshment industry is exceptionally serious. Talking from the Food and Beverage point of view Competitive bit of leeway could be expressed as the condition where one organization has showed signs of improvement of its adversaries in the food and refreshment showcase particularly with capacity of delivering better quality food and drinks at a lower cost in a progressively attractive manner for the purchasers (Rothaermel, 2015). With a portion of the top class bars and up-advertise cafés in the nation the Sydney food and refreshment industry has gotten exceptionally serious and subsequently customers are regularly confounded to pick where to go in the event that they are not brand faithful (Capitanio et al., 2015). The FB Market in Sydney is serious as the vast majority of the shoppers from this spot have better information and taste buds to see great food and wine which is the reason the greater part of the top class cafés and bars have discovered their reality even in this serious condition. There are around 5000 top class up showcase cafés and bars which utilizes over 1.3 million individuals (Soosay et al., 2012). There are a portion of the top class eateries in the city for example Quay it shows up in the best rundown of cafés framed out of a study by Sydney Morning Herald the essential paper in the city. Using the Value chain examination these organizations in the business have had the option to make two various types of upper hand in particular cost bit of leeway and separation advantage. So as to make upper hand it is critical for cafés like Quay and The Bridge Room to recognize their items as far as cost and furthermore regarding taste and its item blend. The significant target that these organizations anticipate accomplishing is benefit and chance to grow and this can possibly happen when the organizations exercises are sufficiently competent to help its contemplations (McWilliams Siegel, 2010). Since the benefit rationale is normal to all the food and refreshment firms working in the Sydney showcase it is imperative to dissect the organization esteem chain to see the key exercises which are critical to increase upper hand. Since the eateries and bars center around manageable and predominant execution anslysing the key exercises which would assist with increasing upper hand in the market is critical and the beneath esteem chain will attempt to examine the key exercises to get viable bits of kn owledge. Grab Attention with LinkedIn GIFs, Images, Videos, and Emojis

Grab Attention with LinkedIn GIFs, Images, Videos, and Emojis This morning I woke up to what appeared to be the new face of LinkedIn. Instead of my profile as I’ve become accustomed to seeing it, with member photos nicely centered on the page, this new image appeared: You may have noticed this change as well. Sigh… so much for all that careful placement of the background image! LinkedIn is at it again. I do like the menu on the right, where a member’s contact info is easy to access. In your own profile, you can click on “See connections” rather than hunt around for that option (note that in a different member’s profile, you will only see the number of connections, not a link to view them). The option to “Add a profile section” from your own profile is much easier to find as well. I also like that more of the summary is visible now than in the previous update. You have three lines instead of two to communicate your value proposition and entice people to read more. We all know that “the only thing that is constant is change” (Heraclitus), and this adage is especially true when it comes to social media platforms. Yet no matter how well we understand this truth, change still catches us off guard. This one gave me a bit of a shock, as it looks like I will need to replace the images in my book very soon. Other changes to the visual experience of LinkedIn have been afoot since my last update in December 2017. Here’s some of what’s been evolving on LinkedIn in 2018. Video in Groups and Posts LinkedIn has improved the sharing experience in groups and article posts by allowing videos. To post a video in a group, Start a conversation with your group by clicking in the details field and pasting in the URL of the video. You may need to add a space after pasting in the URL to see the video populate the preview field below. Once the preview is in place, you can delete the ugly URL and give your post a title and further details if you like. To post a video in an article, go to your home page, and then enter a URL in the box that says “Share an article, photo, video or idea.” Or, click on “Video” to attach a file from your computer. Images in Comments When you comment on an article, there’s now an option to increase visual appeal by adding a photo. An image can draw more attention to your comment, so go for it! Click on the camera icon and attach any photo from your files. Note that you cant post an image only; you must also leave a written comment. Here’s what your image might look like in a conversation: LinkedIn GIFs LinkedIn has for some reason implemented GIFs in their messaging. I personally am anti-GIF, and I don’t think they belong anywhere, much less on a business platform. However, there are many people who disagree with me, and if you want to use GIFs in more casual interactions on LinkedIn, have fun! Just click the GIF option below your message and type in a search term.       For more details on using LinkedIn GIFs, read LinkedIn Official Blogs article Make Conversations More Engaging with GIFs in Messaging. Emojis You can now use colorful characters in your Headline, as well as in most sections and titles in your LinkedIn profile. If you want to add some visual appeal, an appropriate emoji can be a bold addition. Note that not all symbols will render in color once youve updated, so you may need to experiment. Also, this function might not work on all computers or browsers, so some viewers may see an empty box instead of the symbol you chose. I would personally recommend sticking to Unicode characters to be safe. Have fun! Have you noticed any other changes to the visual face of LinkedIn? Do you have questions I can answer? Please share in the comments! If youd like live, personal feedback from me on your profile, I offer a 20-minute LinkedIn Profile Review special for just $75. I look forward to scheduling a call with you! A version of this article appeared in Executive Secretary Magazine, a global training publication and must read for any administrative professional. Early Childhood Development - Free Essay Example

Early Childhood Development For decades researchers in the field of psychology have debated nature versus nurture in the role of brain development. Are we really a product of genetics or does our environment determine who we become? In recent years, research has shown that environment, specifically in early childhood, is a strong predictor of success in adult life. In the first years of life, children develop habits that will last a lifetime. They will begin a life of activity or settle into a sedentary lifestyle. They will learn the language that is spoken around them and model the behaviors they see. While the brain develops most of its neurons from birth to three years old, early childhood is defined as the period of birth through eight years old. Education during this time is important because these are the childs most formative years. Early childhood education will determine a persons health, intelligence and personality in later years. In a childs early years, he is energetic and longing to play. It is during this time that regular physical activity should start and become a habit. Because physical activity is directly related to good health at every stage of life, play and sports should be a part of early childhood education. Exercise improves motor skills in young children while organized play teaches skills such as honesty, teamwork, fairplay, respect for themselves and others, and adherence to rules. Early involvement in sports increases the chance that a person will be physically active later in life. It is important for children to be part of sports programs outside of school to achieve the maximum impact on public health. Any sports program can teach a child skills that will help his coordination and improve his health. Just as a persons health and physical rigor is determined by his early years, so is his ability and motivation to learn. Even before kindergarten age, children should get familiar with materials like scissors and pencils, learn letters and sounds, and recognize numbers. The child should be read to and begin to write his name. As the child starts school, he will begin setting an important after school schedule consisting of homework time, snack time, and physical activity. Some students will ride the bus to an empty house while others stay after school for sports and still others have after school programs. Studies have shown that youth who spend their outside of school hours without supervision have risk of behavior problems, drug use, and negative outcomes. On the other hand, youth that spend their after school hours in structured programs benefit from positive interactions with peers and adults. They are encouraged to take leadership notes and challenged to learn new skills. Studies have shown that the students that attended preschool or headstart followed by an afterschool program were the the most successful in school. Perhaps most important is the social skills that can be learned during a childs early years. Kids are social from the time they are born. They observe how people act around them and learn from the people that they watch. They learn the most from their parents and mimic their behavior. Therefore, parents have the biggest effect on their child and should model appropriate behavior and good relationships. Having strong relationships with people is a important aspect to life. Friends are one of the greatest things in the world because they help us through problems and comfort us. Kids need practice at being kind, supportive, and trustworthy in order to be a good friend. According to PBS Its a wonderful feeling not only to have a friend, but to know how to be a friend yourself. Along with parents, coaches are strong influences on children. Being on a sports teams teaches children to collaborate and communicate with other people and that will help them grow relationships. Having strong relationships with people is a important aspect to life. Research shows that environment is important in the early years of life. Opportunities to provide a proper environment exist both in the home and through organized programs. Such organized programs include preschool or Headstart, afterschool programs such as 4H or Boys and Girls Clubs, and sports programs and camps. While many children benefit from preschool, others come from less fortunate families who cannot afford preschool. Because of the importance of early childhood education, the government has funded Head Start programs to give underprivileged children the education they need. The Head Start program helps the preschool aged children develop skills to get ready for kindergarten. Some long term outcomes of the Head Start program is collaboration skills, high quality education for the young child, caring and educational environments, well-aligned regulations and resources, improved family and child readiness for school. Another great resource, federally and locally funded Boys and Girls Clubs have places for students to do homework and get help that they need in school. They also have age appropriate physical activity for the kids to have fun. Finally, the kids have time to socialize and make new friends in a supervised environment. In sports programs the kids are able to have meet new friends, learn new skills, compete in a supervised environment and also have fun doing physical activities. Youth team coaches are good role models for the kids such as a positive attitude, encouraging, and to teach them how to be a leader. Coaches play an important role in positive educational experiences. For example, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is using sports to encourage girls and young women to attend school in refugee camps. Also UNICEF uses sports to campaign for girls education. While early childhood sports programs are beneficial, it is important that these program focus on individual development.

Essay on Renaissance Art - 1826 Words

The Renaissance was a period of European history that began in 14th-century Italy and spread to the rest of Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries. In this period, the feudal society of the Middle Ages (5th century to 15th century) was transformed into a society dominated by central political institutions, with an urban, commercial economy and patronage of education, the arts, and music. The term renaissance, literally meaning rebirth, was first employed in 1855 by French historian Jules Michelet (Paolucci 14). From the mid-15th century on, classical form was rejoined with classical subject matter, and mythological scenes adorned palaces, walls, and plates (Cole 61). The Renaissance ideals of harmony and proportion culminated in the works of Italian artists Raphael, Leonardo da Vinci, and Michelangelo in the 16th century. Progress was made in medicine, anatomy, mathematics, and especially astronomy, with the innovative work of Nicolaus Copernicus of Poland, Tycho Brahe of Denmark, Johannes Kepler of Germany, and Galileo of Italy (Gilbert 36). Geography was transformed by new knowledge derived from explorations. The invention of printing in the 15th century revolutionized the dissemination of knowledge. The use of gunpowder transformed warfare, and in political thought, Renaissance theorists such as Machiavelli contended that the central task of government was to maintain security and peace, and not preserve liberty and justice (Ackerman 122). Buddha went to the forest to follow a life focused on meditation and asceticism to obtain said enlightenment. He accepted gifts from gods of the Land of the Thirty-three Heavens such as saffron robes in exchange for his royal clothing. This action ordained him as a monk. During his time of meditation, in which he focused on the nature of all phenomena, Buddha established the Buddhist Middle Way, a correct view of life with actions and attitudes that will lead to happiness for oneself and others. After six years of meditation, Buddha realized that he was nearing full enlightenment. At this time he sat beneath the Bodhi Tree to meditate. He made a vow that he would not leave this spot until he reached enlightenment. Evil tried to disrupt him during this time. Devaputra Mara, chief of demons, sent demons to surround Buddha in attempts to break his concentration. Buddha was in such a state of meditation that he viewed these demons and their attempted distractions as peaceful. He saw the fire and spears they threw at him as rainbows and flowers. He was sent into deeper concentration and meditation as Mara sent beautiful women his way as another attempt to distract. He could not be frightened away from his meditation. â€Å"Ninety percent of trans people report experiencing harassment, mistreatment or discrimination on the job. Forty-one percent of respondents reported attempting suicide, compared to 1.6% of the general population† (Adams and Goodman ). Although many of the views are clashing, what it comes down to is morality vs. the struggles that arise around society accepting trans people. If any other group of people had these problems to face, it would be more apparent. So, what causes this? Is there a way that these drastic numbers can be lowered? Before an in depth analysis of Transgender Rights can happen though, one must first understand some key information. Firstly,â€Å"Transgender- a term coined in the 1980’s and sometimes shortened to â€Å" trans†, is defined as anyone who identifies with a gender other than the one they were assigned to at birth† (â€Å"Transgender rights.†). The definition of transgender is fundamental to understand because many people wrongly believe that â€Å"The term Transgender is a general term made by transgender activists to describe heterosexual cross-dressers, homosexual transvestites or drag queens, and transexuals ( individuals undergoing so-called sex operations), and she males† (Traditional Values Coalition). It is essential that people are taught about transgender people, as confusion regarding them often leads to preventable violence towards them. Also, transgender people should be allowed to use the bathroom that matches the gender they identify with, and own valid ID with their chosen names and proper gender marker. â€Å" It is estimated that about 41 percent of transgender people attempt suicide in their lives, as opposed to 5 percent of the general population† (â€Å"

Auditing and Professional Practice Cash Flow Statement - Sample

Question: Discuss about the Auditing and Professional Practice for Cash Flow Statement. Answer: Introduction This assignment is based on the subject of Auditing. The discussion, evaluation and analysis in the assignment focus on three different scenarios. The first scenario states about the case study of Bolts Ltd and the assignment tries to identify the threats that may occur due to non-maintenance of fundamental principles of auditing properly. At the same time, in the analysis of Bolts Ltds case, the assignment also tries to find out the fundamental principles that the company has not followed properly. In case of the second scenario, the discussion is carried on the accounting decision-making models. On the other side, in the analysis of the third scenario, the case study of Peak Sawmill Limited is used and the study tries to evaluate the key assertions that are at risk in relation to the accounts payable of the company. At the end of the assignment, a conclusion is derived by combining the overall findings of the study. Scenario One: Identifying the threats to compliance with fundamental principles resulting from the discussion with CEO and the fundamental principles that are breached As per the given scenario, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Bolts Ltd is more willing to focus on the profitability and the future benefits of the acquisition of Steel Pty Ltd. Along with that, the CFO of the company also suggested to avoid the issues in the cash flow statements of Steel Pty Ltd. However, this type of avoidance may cause different threats in compliance with the basic or fundamental principles of auditing. Two possible threats are as under: Bias report: The report that will be prepared as per the discussion with the CFO of Bolts Ltd, then there is huge chance of producing bias audit report. The cash flow statement is one of the most important financial statements of a company (Elliott, Fanning and Peecher 2016). The cash flow statement discloses the capacity of the company to generate cash in particular financial year and if any mismatch takes place in the cash flow statement, then it indicates that the company has done some mistake intentionally or unintentionally (Fuchs et al. 2015). Therefore, while auditing it is very important to review the cash flow statement. If the audit report is prepared by ignoring the cash flow, then that report will be bias and so the decision taken by the management based on that biased report, will be wrong (Islam 2015). Hence, if the auditing is done as per the discussion with CFO, then there is high chance that the acquisition of Steel Pty Ltd can be a wrong decision. Future controversy: If the auditing is done as per the discussion with the CFO of Bolts Ltd, then the auditing will be inaccurate. The inaccurate auditing may cause controversy in the near future and if it is identified by the external governing authority, then the company as well as the auditor will be charged for paying the penalty (Power and Gendron 2015). The fundamental principles that are as risk of being breached are as under: The principle of objectivity is at risk of being breached. The principle suggests avoiding biasness while auditing (Griffith, Kadous and Young 2015). The principle of professional competence and due care is also at risk of being breached. According to this principle, the auditors need to maintain the professional skill and knowledge so that the professional service to the clients or companies can be maintained (Brown-Liburd, Issa and Lombardi 2015). At the same time, the auditors also require to follow the legislations, techniques and practice in order to provide care to the company or client. Scenario Two: a. Identifying the perfect action that Luke should take According to the American Accounting Association Decision-making Model, the audit firm or the auditors are needed to follow seven steps while taking any decision (Kothari, Mizik and Roychowdhury 2015). The model suggests taking ethical decision while auditing the financial reports of the companies (Cao, Chychyla and Stewart 2015). In case of Luke, he identified that the work done by Zane is right as per the rules, regulations and auditing principles. At the same time, Luke also realized that the work done by Zane indicates the high level work efficiency and knowledge. Apart from that, Luke also understood that the client has misled the manager because the client had personality conflicts with Zane. Luke knows that this type of attitude from the clients end is not ethical. However, the next assignment is also very important for Luke because his promotion to the audit supervisor post depends on that assignment. Due to this, anyhow, he wants to get the assignment. In this situation, Luke can take decision by following the seven steps suggested by American Accounting Association Model. If Luke works through this particular model, then the followings can be identified: Step 1 Establishing the facts: In the situation of Luke, it is the fact that the work quality of Zane is better than Luke because Zane has identified such issues, which might be impossible for Luke to identify. Another fact is the position of audit supervisor is very important to Luke. The third fact is the client had personality conflict with Zane. Step 2 Identifying ethical issues: Luke can copy the working plan that Zane had followed in the previous one (Griffin and Wright 2015). Luke may influence the audit manager for providing the next audit assignment because Luke understood that the previous client was not happy with Zane. Step 3 Identifying the norms, principles and values: The auditing principles suggest identifying each possible issue in the financial statements or reports of the companies (Ferris et al. 2015). At the same time, in order to follow the auditing norms, Luke needs to prepare the proper audit plan. He can tests the financial reports suddenly or can do sampling testing or can test by gathering the data. Luke also identifies that misleading the audit manager regarding Zane is not a professional behavior and his values do not permit this type of behavior. Step 4 - Identifying each alternative course of action: As the alternative action, Luke can inform the best points in Zanes work and can tell about the personality conflicts between Zane and the client. Luke has another option that he can show his positive points and try to influence the audit manager by not disclosing the best points in Zanes work. The third alternative is Luke can learn from Zanes work and improve his own quality so that he can compete with Zane. Step 5 Verifying the alternatives with the principles, norms and values: If the above alternatives are verified with the principles, norms and values, then it can be identified that the first and third point is ethical and do not break the principles, values and norms. Step 6 Identifying the consequences: If the first alternative decision is considered then it is more possible that Zane will get the assignment as her efficiency is high. However, if the third alternative is considered then there is a chance that the Audit manager will also consider Luke as a deserving candidate. Step 7 Taking final decision: The above two alternatives are indicating two different consequences and between two consequences, the second consequence is better than the first. Therefore, it will be better for Luke if he learns from the previous work of Zane and improves his quality of work. At the same time, Luke should not influence the audit manager against Zane as that will be unethical and against his values. Hence, Luke should try to get the next audit assignment by maintaining work ethics and professional behavior. b. Identifying the difference between the decisions taken by Luke and the decision that could be taken by using the Mary Guy model As per the Mary Guy decision-making model, there are six steps that the auditors or audit firms need to follow in order to take ethical decision (Helin and Babri 2015). The steps include the followings: Identifying and defining the problem Determining the target or goal Lists all possible solutions (Gaynor et al. 2015) Evaluating each alternative to identify which is meeting the requirements in best way Determining the course of action that can help to achieve the desired target within the possible constraints Making the commitment to choose the course of action and implementing the same (Samsonova-Taddei and Siddiqui 2015) Therefore, in the above it can be identified that the steps in Mary Guy decision-making model are different than the previous decision-making model that is American Accounting Association Model to some extent (Burke and Tomlinson 2016). However, both of these two decision-making models suggest taking the ethical decision. In case of Luke, it is also needed that the decision is taken on the ethical ground and the suggested decision shows the ethical point (Schultz and Tran 2015). Therefore, there will be no difference in the decision of Luke if he uses the Mary Guy decision-making model. Scenario Three: a. List of two key assertions at risk in relation to accounts payable As per the case study of Peak Sawmill Limited, the accounts payable personnel are facing problem due to slow movement of the management regarding the distribution of information about price negotiation. At the same time, it has also been identified that the number of days to pay back the creditors has been decreased significantly in the current accounting period from the average number of days of accounts payable. These indicate that there are some problems or issues in the company for which the significant changes happened in the company. However, due to these, some key assertions of financial statements are at risks in relation to the accounts payables. Two key assertions are stated below: Completeness: The auditor needs to identify and provide the opinion about the completeness of the financial transactions of the company (Mock and Fukukawa 2015). In case of Peak Sawmill Limited, it can be identified that the number of days have been decreased in current accounting period but the accurate reasons behind the decrease have not been mentioned. At the same time, the accounts payable personnel were not properly informed about the changes in the prices. Therefore, the assertion of completeness is at risk. Accuracy: The auditors are also required to identify whether the financial statements of the company are accurate or not. In case of the company Peak Sawmill Limited, it has been identified that the reconciliation statement of account payables shows that in the invoices of five major suppliers, the pricing is not correct and at the same time, some invoices have kept in hold. Therefore, the accuracy assertion of the financial statements is at risk. b. Justification for each assertion In the above, it has been identified that the assertions of completeness and accuracy of the financial statements of Peak Sawmill Limited are at risk. The completeness assertion of financial statement is at risk because the number of days of accounts payables has declined significantly in the current year, which is not usual. At the same time, the accounts payable personnel of the company has also complained that the management does not provide the information regarding the changes in the price of the logs within the required time. Along with that, it has also identified that that the some of the invoices of five major suppliers have not been considered during the reconciliation of the accounts payable account. Therefore, it is very clear that the calculation for the payment of the suppliers has not been done accurately. At the same time, it can also be said that the calculations done by the account payable personnel are not complete because many entries they kept on hold. Therefore, it can be said that the accuracy and completeness assertions of financial statements are at risk. c. Substantive test for each assertion It has been identified that the financial statements of Peak Sawmill Limited are having the completeness and accuracy assertion risks. However, in order to conduct proper audit, it is very much important to run a substantive test for each of the assertion risk (Sridharan 2015). The substantive tests to collect the appropriate evidence of audit are stated below: In order to collect the proper audit evidence regarding the completeness assertion risk the substantive test can be done by contacting the suppliers of the company that is Peak Sawmill Limited (Filipovi, Kremslehner and Muermann 2015). If the suppliers of the company are contacted by the auditors then it can be identified that whether there is any differences between the calculations of the suppliers and Peak Sawmill Limited or not. At the same time, it is also important to identify how much difference is there between the calculations of two parties (Jackson 2016). Along with that, the auditor can ask different questions to the suppliers in order to verify the payment calculations done by them. At the same time, the auditors can ask different questions and justification from each of the account payable personnel in order to verify the financial statements of the company. Therefore, it will be easier for the auditor to identify whether the companys personnel have included all of the entries in the books of accounts of the company or there are some mistakes. On the other side, in order to collect the appropriate evidence for audit of the accuracy assertion risk of Peak Sawmill Limited, the detailed-analysis procedure can be adopted. This procedure is bit time consuming but the chances of collecting proper data and evidence are more (Warren Jr, Moffitt and Byrnes 2015). In this particular audit data collected procedure, the auditor needs to ask for all of the financial statements along with the supportive documents from the accounts payable personnel at the company. After collecting the documents and financial statements, the auditor needs to analyze and compare each of the entry made by the accounts payable personnel in the financial statements. This type of substantive test can provide the detail information of each entry (Sridharan 2015). Therefore, the auditor can easily identify how much the calculations in the financial statements are correct in respect to the accounts payable of the company. Therefore, from the above discussion, it can be said that in order to verify the completeness assertion risks, the auditor can use the question answer technique with the suppliers. On the other hand, to verify the accuracy assertion risk, the auditor can apply the data collection from the companys personnel technique. Conclusion: In this study, it has been identified that cash flow statement is one of the most important financial statements for auditing. The cash flow statement provides the information regarding the cash transaction of the company and so if this statement is avoided at the time of auditing then the fundamental principles of auditing like, objectivity and professional competency and due care will be breached. On the other side, the American Accounting Association Model and Mary Guy model both suggest to take ethical decision at the time of auditing. In the last part of the study, it has been derived that the assertions of financial statements can be at risk if the proper information is not provided on time. Creating employment and business opportunities for ODA

Creating employment and business opportunities for ODA Introduction The Olympic Development Authority is an executive non departmental Public Body which is responsible to the Secretary of state for Culture, Media and Sport. The Olympic Development Authority was first started as a Statutory Corporation by the London 2012 Olympic Games and Paralympics Games act 2006 on March 30th 2006 and it is also the Statutory Planning Authority for the Olympic Park Area (ODA, 2010).Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Creating employment and business opportunities for ODA specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The mission of the Olympic Delivery Authority which it does its level best to achieve is the delivery of venues, facilities and infrastructure and provision of transport facilities on time and performance of such activities on time and in a manner that ensures that there is maximum delivery of a sustainable legacy within the available budget. In trying to create new employment and busines s opportunities locally, regionally and nationally, the Olympic development authority, the organization should carefully consider its PESTLE and SWOT analysis in order to create a human resourcing strategy that is effective and efficient and is in line with the goals, objectives and mission of the organization (Stevens Loudon 2005, p.27). PESTLE analysis on Olympic Development Authority A PESTLE Analysis is usually used to take note of the external forces that affect an organization. A PESTLE analysis on an organization usually analyses the Political, Economical, Social and Technological Environment. Political Factors Affecting Olympic Development Authority This step involves a careful look at the political factors that influence the operations of an organization. In most cases, political factors that affect an organization can either come with advantages or disadvantages. In trying to ensure the delivery of its employment and business objective to â€Å"create new employment and business opportunities locally, regionally and nationally†, the Olympic Development Authority should consider all the duties and responsibilities that come to the organization such as the type of government in place and a democratic or dictatorship government which would ensure that the organization is able to perform all its duties without interference from the political leaders of the country.Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Political factors such as legislation on minimum wage would also be a great influence on the human resourcing strategy that the organization would come up with (Henry 2008, p.57). All organizations must stick by all the legislation rules concern ing the minimum amount of money that they need to pay individuals on the work that they perform. Political factors also affect the laws on discrimination. The Olympic Development authority has been fortunate enough to have carried out a public sector equality duties since its addition to the to the London Olympic and Paralympics Games act which was enacted in 2006 for public bodies. For race duties, the Olympic development Authority ensures that there is promotion of equal opportunities for people for all races that have the needed qualifications or those that have already been employed by the Olympic Development Authority (ODA 2010). The organization is also tasked with the development of great relations among members of the community who come from different racial groups. The organization is supposed to ensure that there is no harassment of individuals on the basis of their being disabled. This is done because the organization is involved in the arrangement of activities that incl ude disabled people and encourages promotion of equal opportunities for these individuals (Pahl Ritcher 2009, 52). The Olympic development authority is also supposed to promote positive attitudes which would encourage disabled people apply for jobs in the organization and to encourage the disabled people in the organization to feel more comfortable at the workplace.Advertising We will write a custom report sample on Creating employment and business opportunities for ODA specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More Also in relation to the public sector equality duties that are affected by the political affiliation of the organization to the government to follow various rules, the Olympic Development Authority has a duty to identify all the policies and functions that affect the human resourcing function of the organization and ensure that they are adhered to (Johnson, Scholes Whittington 2008,73). The organization, together with the Olympics or ganizing committee is also supposed to ensure that they gather and analyze information that affects them and involve all the stakeholders in coming up with the correct decisions regarding creation of employment opportunities. For example, the organization is supposed to completely get rid of employment discrimination cases that might exist in the organization based on gender and transsexual issues and introduce strict policies on matters that regard sexual harassment. Strict guidelines and measures must be put in place to ensure that no members of staff are sexually harassed. The Olympic Development Authority must also ensure that it comes up with its own effective Voluntary codes and practices. Failure to come up with effective codes and practices would lead the government to introduce its own codes and regulations which must be strictly followed by the organization failure to which might lead to imposing of fines or imprisonment of management members of the organization if the law s violated are in relation to human resources. Economical factors All organizations are affected by economic factors in both the national and global fields. Fiscal policy that is enacted at a national level affect all businesses in a country. National interest rate also affects the financial aspect of a company depending on how it has financed its business. An economic climate will affect how an organization is able to get hold of its funds and how it spends these funds. In relation to creation of new employment opportunities for the Olympic Development Authority, a good economic climate would ensure that the organization is able to hire new employees and retain their current employees (Grant 2005, p.447).Advertising Looking for report on business economics? Let's see if we can help you! Get your first paper with 15% OFF Learn More A good economic climate would also ensure that the organization is able to take part in activities that would be able to bring in new and profitable business such as entry into new and promising business ventures with other organizations. In the business field, an organization requires money to make money and a good economic climate would ensure that the organization would have access to the funds. The main intention of this is to make sure that it remains competitive in the market locally, regionally and globally. When an organization is in a good economic position, it can be able to hire the right members for the organization who hold all the required qualifications that the business needs in order to carry out its operational functions. On the other hand, if an economic undergoes inflation, it is likely to have its financial position affected which would have a direct impact on its ability to employ and maintain employees. If the Olympic Development Authority was in a poor financ ial position, it would probably terminate some of the contracts that it has with its employees in order to be able to stay afloat in the market. In so doing, the organization would still have to stick to all the legal rules that are tied to dismissing of employees (Pahl Ritcher 2009, 80). The legal department would prove very helpful in ensuring that the organization abides to all the labor laws of the country regarding to this act. This would help in the prevention of civil litigation which might damage the public image of the organization. For Olympic Development Authority to become or remain successfully in the market, it should be able to shift its business position in relation to stakeholders that affect its economic position and condition (Phillips Gully 2011, 48). Social Factors Social factors that affect an organization include demographic factors which can influence the Olympic Development Authority. The demographic factors include such things as age distribution and heal th consciousnesses, cultural factors and population growth rate of the stakeholders and target population for an organization. With the increase in health awareness of most individuals, it would be imperative for Olympic Development Authority to market itself and get more people involved in the activities of the organization. Eating and social lifestyles of most individuals in the world have changed and the Olympic Development Authority can use this factor in its marketing strategy to market its business on the local, regional and national front. The organization can run an aggressive campaign in the media to get people to enroll in the activities organized by the Olympic Development Authority (ODA). Through the campaigns, the organization can use health experts like doctors, nutritionists and recreation management experts to sensitize people on the benefits of Olympics gathered by the organization. Illnesses like diabetes and high blood pressure should be used to encourage people t o take part in the activities of the organization (Tansky Heneman, 2006, 59) A majority of individuals suffer from these illnesses or know people that are close to them that have been affected by such illnesses and this would go a long way in helping the organization expand its market share locally, regionally and nationally through an increase in the clientele base and an expansion in the pool of the employees that are available for the organization to recruit and train and therefore, increase innovation in the human resources department. The greater the pool of applicants to the jobs that are available in an organization, the greater the amount of creativity in an organization and therefore, the more competitive and economically advantaged an organization is compared to its competitors (Haderberg Rieple, p.588). Technological Factors Technology has evolved bringing with it more opportunities for organizations to grow by increasing their product awareness in the market therefore, creating new business opportunities and employment opportunities in the organization. With the growth of social networking sites like face book, twitter, my space and other sites, the Olympic Development Authority can be able to reduce the amount of money that the spend on marketing and advertising campaigns and instead use the money on innovation through their research and development initiatives. Research and development usually lead to the best and competitive practices for an organization, therefore, placing the organization ahead of others in the industry (Hill Jones 2009, 489). Legal Factors Legal factors affecting an organization usually include laws relating to an organization in regard to its health, consumer, labor, activity, discrimination and anti-trust law. The Olympic Development Authority has to ensure that it follows all the labor laws in hiring and compensating its employees. Human resources are one of the most important professionals in an organization and they mu st be properly taken care of so that they remain productive in the organization. An organization that takes care of its employees in the way that it is supposed to ensures that it has a good reputation and image in the market. This eases the effort that the organization puts in dealing with its stakeholders (Bratton Gold 2001, p.32). Environmental Factors These are the factors that are directly influenced or related to the environment such as climatic factors, geographical location, insurance and the people’s activities such as tourism. Tourism would be one of the activities that would have a great positive effect on the Olympic Development Authority by bringing in a great and diverse pool of individuals that would have a positive effect on the organization. This would help the organization in its human resource strategies function by improving its public image. It would have an impact on the kind of people that would apply to get hired into the organization. The higher the qualifications of the people who work for the organization, the better the productivity of the organization through creation of new opportunities to expand the organization and improve its performance in the local, regional and national front (Hendry 1994 p.40). SWOT Analysis SWOT Analysis in an organization provides for a planning tool for organization based on the internal strengths of the organization, internal weaknesses of the organization, opportunities that present themselves to the organization and the threats that are available in the external environment surrounding the organization. A SWOT Analysis for an organization can help it to make discoveries on what the organization can keep on doing in order to stay ahead of its competitors, which areas the competitors of the business organization excel in compared to an organization of their choice and why, to make discoveries whether the business organization is making full advantage of all the opportunities that are available to the organization and offer an insight into how best the organization can deal with challenges that might present themselves to the organization and use them to their advantage (Capon 2008, p.67). Strengths The Strengths of the Olympic Development Authority include its organizational structure which is functional. Such an organizational structure ensures that all the departments of the organization are aware of the duties that they should abide by and most of the time they have targets that they should meet. This is a good organizational structure for the ticketing and merchandising departments which usually fall under the sales department. When the human resources in these departments are of the sales targets that they are supposed to meet, they are more motivated which efficiently increases their productivity (Henry 1994, 33). An introduction of bonus schemes when employees hit their targets is a great human resource and business strategy for an organization. Such an organizatio nal structure is also a cost effective initiative for the whole organization since it reduces the number of employees on the payroll and all the present employees have their roles clearly stated. When human resources in an organization have their roles and duties clearly defined, they are more productive which is an advantage to the organization since it means that it is more competitive when compared to similar organizations in the market (Hill Jones 2009, 19). Weaknesses The Olympic Development authority usually advertises its job opportunities on its website which no doubt greatly limits the number and pool of applicants to the available jobs. There are many individuals who are highly qualified and would be appropriate for the advertised jobs, but they might not have access to either a computer, internet access or both. It would have a great impact on the pool of applicants available for recruitment to the Olympic development Authority if the organization would advertise its ava ilable jobs on a greater number of sites or media outlets for example on the newspapers or on social networking sites. A greater pool of applicants’ would mean that the organization would have access to more talented individuals. This would therefore mean more innovation in coming up with great and competitive ideas. Advertising in more media outlets would also mean that the number of applicants that would apply to the organization would be more diverse. The more the diverse the individuals hired into the organization, the more the ideas that will be shared increasing research opportunities for the company thereby, leading to effective and competitive means of increasing market share and productivity (Capon 2008, 45). Opportunities Since the Olympic development Authority is a growing organization, it can take advantage of its affiliation to the government to expand its market penetration. This can be through negotiation of tax grants or increased allocation of funds to expand into the local, regional and national market. This type of affiliation would prove advantageous especially in comparison to private firms which might not have the opportunity of these privileges (Phillips Gully 2011, 72). Threats Threats into the performance of the Olympic Development Authority include similar organizations which might have better and more competitive policies in their human resources departments. The impact of the correct human resources in the positions in organization cannot be underestimated. The right human resources in an organization ensure that the needed work is done in an organization and that an organization is able to achieve the targets and needed growth. The right human resources strategies that recruit and maintain the right employees should be enacted in the organization (Phillips Gully, 74). Human Resource Plan The organization should focus more on human resources strategy and increase the requirements that need to be fulfilled to in terms of age , gender, sexual orientation and religion. Making the rules and policies clearer in relation to these parameters would foster a more positive working environment for employees and raise the caliber of employees that apply to the organization (Armstrong 2008, p.93). The organization would also have a variety of professionals to select from around the globe. The Olympic Development Authority should offer growth opportunities for their employees through mentorship programs, strategic leadership practices and collaboration with government or private agencies that would create better opportunities with important local, regional or national partners.
